I wrote this piece to exploit the possibilities afforded by certain combinations of stops on the chapel organ as it was in 1990.  Everyone was always complaining that the organ was falling to pieces.  This piece is all about holding things together that are on the brink of collapse, and singing through it all.  Despite (perhaps because of?) the organ’s need for constant attention, it had huge character, and the piece ends with a gradually built up roar from almost all the pipes.
